Facebook business pages are getting harder and harder in terms of reach and conversion. We all know that they want us to pay and to be honest – as a marketer I can tell you that Facebook advertising is one of the most targeted and cost efficient ways to advertise. That is not the focus of this blogpost though.
Today, I’m going to walk you through 5 ways you can increase reach and conversion for free – if you don’t include your own time of course 🙂
Personal Profile Linked
One super easy and important step is to edit your personal profile to include your employment as the Founder/CEO/Director of your biz page. This is done by going into your profile and clicking ‘Update Info’ then choose ‘Workplace and Employment’ then click ‘Add a Workplace’. As you start typing the name of your biz page it should prompt you to create a link to the biz page.

This is important if you re hanging out in Facebook groups and people want to stalk you out. They can easily get to your biz page. Also, if you don’t want tonnes of friend requests from peeps who want to hang with you for biz reasons, you can easily direct them to your biz page. Video is the best way to get reach and engagement on Facebook at the moment is video. Here’s an article where they analysed 1billion Facebook posts and found which posts performed the best. Check it out HERE
Basically, the moral of the article is: video uploaded to a Facebook biz page gives the best reach and engagement of any other kind of post. I know this brings a lot of stuff up for people – mostly resistance, but I am telling you – every client I see is not doing enough video and as soon as they start, everything starts to shift in biz for them. So, do it!
Know the Algorithm
This is kind of impossible actually, but at least try – you know what I mean?
The algorithm is a big mathematical equation that decides whether or not people will see your post in their feed. It is based on a person’s activity – their likes, comments and shares AND how recently they did an action in relation to your post.
Now, the algorithm changes frequently and when it does, the magic formula you finally nailed to get peeps engaging on you r page goes out the window. So, although you can’t control the algorithm you can make sure you know what the latest updates mean for your biz. Knowledge is power.

The 5 types of post
So, now we now about the dreaded algorithm we need to know how to work around it. One of the best ways is to vary the type of post you do in the course of a week. The 5 types are:
So, if in a week, you cycle between the 5 types, you will be getting SOME reach somehow irrespective of what the algorithm is up to.
NOTE: share = share someone else’s FB post….link = an external link to a webpage outside Facebook.
Have you ever seen those Apps that some people have on their biz page? Mine look like this:
These are branded to my colours and fonts and you could do it too. They also display on the top bar of the page and in the ‘More’ drop down like the picture below.
What this does is allow you to have a simple and beautiful way to channel your peeps to your opt-ins, program sign-ups and email lists. I have had a bunch of email growth through these buttons and apps and find they increase conversion without a doubt.
This process is a bit techy but not too much – and there are different ways to do it. I have used 2 techniques:
