What even is it???
Well, Pinterest is a website, where you create an account for yourself and select topics that interest you. Images related to those interests are delivered to you in a feed and then you can “Pin” any of the images which interest you. You can also “Pin” pretty much any image on the Internet to your account for future reference. Within your account, you can create “Boards” which is a way to sort your “Pins” into categories of your choice.
For individuals and businesses. There are now “Buyable Pins” which is great if you are a seller in a style like Etsy except that it doesn’t need to be handmade.
I can only suggest you try it and see how it works for you. I have a friend who teaches Spanish and she has found loads of great Spanish teaching resources. I have a personal account where I pin items related to my interests like art, craft, kids activities, recipes, clothes I like and so on.
For Natasha Berta Media I have been using it as a way of organising resources for clients. I have boards like Web, Facebook, Email, Twitter, Demystify, Inspire and more. These all have pins which I have curated from the large pool of resources which are available on the Pinterest and the net. Checking out my profile is a great way to get acquainted with Pinterest if you are shy 🙂
Here is a link to my Marketing related Pinterest and below is my current top 5, to give you a taste.

So much more…
There is a lot more to say about Pinterest and I will be doing that as time goes on. It is a little understood platform with huge potential for the right business. If your business targets women (75% of Pinterest users are female) or is very image based, this is one for you. It’s also useful for other businesses and whether or not it’s good for your business can be revealed through some Strategic Marketing Analysis.
So, there it is. The first of many Top 5 of Pinterest, because
- Pinterest is awesome
- There is too much information on the Internet
- I love visual information
